"Royal Hawaiian Sunset"
$200.00
Before Hawaii re-opened to visitors, I made a promise to myself to visit all the places that are usually very crowded, just to experience them empty. My favorite place was the grounds of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, which, without visitors, seemed out of step with time itself. It was easy to imagine standing in that spot 80 years ago and it all looking more or less the same.
I walked onto the lawn during this small slice of the day when the lanterns come on and the hotel is illuminated against the twilight. Those ancient trees have roots that hang down and sway in the breeze like party streamers. As I stood there taking it all in, a distant tree sent white petals on the wind like snow and I was the only one to witness this magic. I decided to make a painting so I would never forget it.
This fine art giclee reproduction is created on textured watercolor paper. The hand-pressed paper texture gives each print the feel of an original painting.
